The client is the largest nonprofit fitness certification, education and training organization in the world with over 53,000 certified professionals. They are the most respected fitness organization in the industry. They are an established resource for both fitness professionals and consumers, providing comprehensive, unbiased scientific research impacting the fitness industry.
The Project Outline
Besides the different backgrounds from all participants, the main challenge was addressing the variety of the participants learning methods: some had followed the Essentials of Exercise Science training via an individual program (personal training or just studied the book) (15%), some were taught in a classroom (55%), while others used an online training program (30%).
The task was to create a training reinforcement program for their course, Essentials of Exercise Science. The goal of the program: help the participants remember the material and pass their certification exam. The client came to Mindmarker requesting we design a cloud-based program for all participants to prepare themselves for the final global certification exam.
The Results of the Program
The focus of this training reinforcement program was on the knowledge obtained during a classroom or digital course, including: Human Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Physiology of Training, Fundamentals of Applied and Kinesiology.
In total, 100 quiz questions were spread out over 3 months. All questions had a clear introduction, a detailed question, and an educational explanation of the correct answer. By using this methodology, participants were able to gather insights of their current knowledge and where to place extra attention during preparation for the certification exam. Because the participants were able to see correct answers and were given an overall score, motivation and engagement remained high.

Without training reinforcement, only 21% of learners apply their new knowledge and skills, but when training is reinforced with Mindmarker, more than 83% of learners achieved long-term behavior change.
